In order to avoid workstation conflicts when running HITS BPOS, each user (aka:
workstation) must use their own copy of the HITS Launcher (and associated
configuration files, such as the aaconfig.ini file) in the folder ?:\gstnet that the
workstation accesses.
To prevent multiple Microsoft Terminal Server workstation users from accessing the
same (C:\gstnet) folder on the Microsoft Terminal Server drive, the HITS Launcher
looks for the existence of the \gstnet folder starting from the highest possible “Drive
Letter” and down.
For example, if the HITS Launcher finds the required workstation
launcher and configuration files in the Z:\gstnet folder of the workstation, it will use the
files in that folder for connecting the workstation to HITS.
The configuration of your Microsoft Terminal Server for HITS is straight forward
and simple using the Windows NET USE command to create a unique \gstnet folder for
each user (workstation). Below is an example of using the NET USE command for this
purpose…
1. Create a unique folder for each user. Example: C:\USER1, C:\USER2,
C:\USER3, etc.
2. Create a NET USE drive letter above drive C: for each user with the drive letter
mapped to the users’ private folder….NET USE Z: \\{servername}\c$\user1\ /persistent:Y
(Note: We recommend starting with the drive letter Z:, but any available drive
letter higher than the server’s primary drive will work.)
3. On the user’s Z: drive, create the folder \gstnet.
4. From the Microsoft Terminal Server workstation desktop, install the BPOS
Launcher from the web site www.hitstiresoftware.com under the Support
menu. You will be prompted for a password. Log a call to the HITS Technical
Support Center to get the current password or email your request to
tech@aasys.com.
5. You should now be able to launch BPOS from the Microsoft Terminal Server
workstation desktop.
