Once you’ve completed the Online Training Courses and your system is fully configured, the next step before going live is to complete a Practice Day. This critical step ensures that your setup is correct and your team is comfortable with daily workflows.
What Is a Practice Day?
A Practice Day is a recommended part of your go-live preparation.
During this exercise, you’ll recreate a full day’s worth of business activity in your HITS DEMO (Practice) account. This includes tickets, receipts, and ROAs, followed by running the End of Day process.
Tip: You don’t need to complete everything in one sitting. You can work on it as time allows — just make sure all tickets you close share the same date.
Why Do a Practice Day?
The purpose of a Practice Day is to verify that your Live system setup is complete and accurate for real-world use.
Completing a Practice Day helps:
-
- Confirm that your workflows, pricing, and configurations are working as expected.
- Identify and resolve any issues before customers are in front of you.
- Build staff confidence with real-world examples and end-of-day reporting.
We’ve found that customers who perform a full Practice Day have a significantly smoother go-live experience.
How to Complete a Practice Day
To get started, choose one or more previous business days from your current system and recreate those transactions in your HITS DEMO environment.
Your Practice Day should include:
1.) Invoices (Tickets)
-
- Create at least 5–10 tickets
- Add line items (labor, parts, tires, etc.)
- Close each ticket as if it were a real customer transaction
2.) Receipts (Vendor Purchases)
-
- Create 3–5 receipts
- Select the appropriate vendor
- Add line items and close each receipt
3.) ROAs (Payments)
-
- Create 3–5 ROAs
- Apply payments to the appropriate invoice(s) where possible
4.) End of Day
-
- Perform the Daily Closing for at least one day
- Run your End of Day reports
- Compare your HITS reports with those from your current system
If your report figures match, it’s a strong indication that HITS is configured properly for your daily operations.
