Adding Technicians into the system (setup)

In HITS, technician codes allow your shop to track work performed by technician. This information is used for accountability, compensation, and efficiency tracking. Technicians are added to Workorders by line item. Line items can be split between multiple technicians.

 

How to setup technicians in the system

To add Technicians into the system, go to Views > Admin & Utilities > Corporate > Technician Add/Edit

On the screen, enter the technicians First Name and Last Name. You can also enter the technicians Home Store#. The other information on this page is for information only.  If using Time Clock feature, be sure to add the HITS Username for this technician.

The Technician ID will be automatically created when you click Save. To enter another technician, click Clear/New. Please be sure to Log Out/In for the changes to take effect.

 

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference of Salesrep & Technician in HITS? 

Salesrep is generally who made the sale. Technician is who performed the work. If an employee sells as well as performs the work, they will need to be added to both the Salesrep table, as well as the Technician table.

 

What if a Technician works in multiple stores? 

Technicians are saved in HITS for the entire corporate, so if a technician works in multiple stores, they only need to be added once.

 

How do I run reports on Technicians? 

Technician is an option on a few reports in HITS. The Technician Journal and Technician Recap are the most popular.
