HITS Email: Office365 Email Settings (Legacy March 2023)

!!! Note: The instructions below were for SMTP setup prior to 2024. The setting changes below most likely are not current with Office365 SMTP setup since updating Java (2024). You may want to Google – “Office365 SMTP Settings” and use updated documentation based on Office365 setup for SMTP !!! 

Step #1: Go to https://admin.exchange.microsoft.com/#/settings

Step #2: Log into your account

Step #3: Once logged in, click on Mail Flow

Step #4: Uncheck the “Turn Off SMTP AUTH protocol for your organization” checkbox

Step #5: Check the “Turn on use of legacy TLS clients”

Step #6: Click the Save button

Step #7: In HITS navigate to Views –> Administration & Utilities –> Store –> View/Edit Default Settings

Step #8: Click on the Email/Communications menu from the right-side menu

Step #9: Select the appropriate store from the Settings Shown drop-down menu

Step #10: Ensure that you have the correct SMTP Server URL (i.e., smtp-legacy.office365.com)

Step #11: Enter the correct SMTP Port (i.e., 587)

Step #12: Select the correct SMTP Send Mode (i.e., STARTTLS)

Step #13: SMTP Use Authorization, select Yes

Step #14: Ensure your email and email password are correct and click Save

Step #15: Log out of HITS and log back in

Note: You must have “admin privileges” for your company’s Office365 to access the admin.exchange.microsoft.com/ website and access the /#/settings page. Contact your email administrator and provide them with steps# 1 through #5. HITS Software Support can assist with steps# 5 through #12.
