While HITS CSV files are not able to automatically open in Google Sheets, they are still fully compatible — it just requires a quick manual import. Since Google Sheets runs in a web browser rather than as a locally installed program, Windows can only automatically open CSV files with desktop spreadsheet software installed directly on your computer such as Microsoft Excel, etc..
Follow the steps below to get started.
Instructions to Import a CSV File into Google Sheets
- In HITS, generate the report and save/export it as a CSV file.
- Open your web browser and go to Google Sheets (sheets.google.com).
- Click Blank Spreadsheet to create a new sheet.
- In the top-left menu, click File > Import.
- Select the Upload tab, then click Browse.
- Navigate to the file location:
- This PC
- OS (C:)
- GSTNET folder
- Sort the files by Newest Date so the most recently exported file appears at the top.
- Select the CSV file exported from HITS and click Open.
- Google Sheets will automatically import the data into the spreadsheet.
- Once the import is complete, you can review, edit, and work with the data as needed.
